Development and Structure of the Institute
In 1925, the Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology, which used to be called Institute of Textile and Paper Technology, was founded by Professor Meister at the TH Dresden. The Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology at the TU Dresden is the only universy research facility regarding Textile and Assembly Technology, and it consists of these two chairs:
Our main tasks are educating and researching, these are the goals we are seeking:
- Excellent education of students and doctoral candidates by providing comprehensive basic knowledge with practical orientation
- Conducting basic research as well as industry-related projects
- Expanding interdisciplinary cooperations with various research facilities and the industries
- Transferring research results into practice
In order to successfully realize teaching and reseach activities, the ITM is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure. The interdisciplinary research environment provided at the TU Dresden as well as non-university research facilities are particularly important for the completion of our goals. The fast development of innovative technologies and products is enabled through this supportive environment in combination with textile-related networks.
