Wrocław: TU Dresden celebrates 25th anniversary of German-Polish collaboration
The summer garden party at the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Wrocław is a venerable event that brings together Polish and German guests from the worlds of politics, business, culture and science. The Free State of Saxony is a co-organizer of the 2024 event, which reflects on 25 years of German-Polish cooperation.
TU Dresden will also be present with the transnational research center CASUS – founded in 2019 by the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research (UFZ) Leipzig, the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG) and the University of Wrocław. In addition to CASUS research projects in the field of digital systems science, TU Dresden has carried out over 30 research projects in Lower Silesia alone since the start of the current Excellence Period in 2019. These have covered a range of topics such as health, societal and structural change, mobility, the circular economy, sustainability, landscape conservation, information technology, microelectronics and materials science.
“Events such as these underline the tremendous importance of cooperation with our neighboring countries at federal, state and city levels. TU Dresden is a cosmopolitan university and attaches great value to actively contributing to dialog with our neighbors. For this reason, TU Dresden is intensifying its endeavors with partners in Poland and Czechia and is also expanding its cooperation at central level via the cities of Wrocław and Prague, for example in the regions around Ústí nad Labem and Liberec,” says Prof. Ronald Tetzlaff, Chief Officer Technology Transfer and Internationalization at TUD, explaining the strategy for regional partnerships.
The event will be opened by Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer and Consul-General Martin Kremer. Almost a thousand guests are expected to attend, including the Marshal and Voivode of Lower Silesia, the Vice Voivode of Greater Poland, the Mayor of Wrocław and the newly appointed Polish Coordinator for Relations with Germany, Prof. Krzysztof Ruchniewicz.
