TUTORING - Qualification for student tutors of all degree programs
Was ist TUTORING?
TUTORING
TUTORING qualifies tutors from all TU Dresden departments and strengthens them in their role as student teachers.
As an accredited interdisciplinary qualification program of the network Tutoring at Universities, we support student teachers in designing didactically sound, effective and contemporary tutorials, exercises and internships - from the repetition and consolidation of subject content to the promotion of independent work and active learning.
Our courses always combine subject-specific, didactic and interdisciplinary skills.
The aim is to strengthen tutors as central contributors to good teaching and to make a sustainable contribution to academic success.
TUTORING is based at the Center for Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching (ZiLL) as a student success project. As part of TU Dresden's higher education didactic structure, we work across departments, based on evidence and closely networked with university stakeholders.
In order to test innovative qualification formats and transfer current scientific findings into practice, we are regularly supported by third-party funding. This enables us to continuously develop the tutorial qualification, set new priorities and actively pick up on university didactic trends.
Below you will find an overview of our current and completed third-party funded projects that make this work possible:

Since April 2024, part of our work has been funded by the ESF Plus funding guideline. This relates to the "SMART PEERS" part of the sTUDy SMART network project, in which we focus in particular on female tutors and international teachers, networking them and creating further training opportunities.
From 2023 until the end of the project on December 31, 2025, TUTORING was part of the virTUos project at the Center for Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching (ZiLL).
In the TUTORING hybrid sub-project, hybrid teaching-learning scenarios in tutorials, exercises and practicals were identified, didactically analyzed, further developed on an interdisciplinary basis and prepared as OEP (Open Educational Practice). The focus was on developing the skills of teachers in interactive hybrid tutorials, tele-tutorials, exercises, laboratory and machine practicals.
A look behind the scenes:
- Our qualification program was officially accredited by the Network Tutorial Work at Universities in the summer semester of 2026. The nationwide network promotes the exchange between universities throughout Germany that are jointly committed to the quality and further development of tutorial work. The accreditation visibly confirms the high standard of training for student tutors at TU Dresden.
- TUTORING was already awarded recognition in 2022 and received one of three honorable mentions for diversity-sensitive teaching in 2025.
- If you wish, TUTORING can even accompany you all the way to your final thesis. Find out more here.
