ERASMUS teaching stays and training activities abroad support the internationalisation of universities at all levels and contribute to the personal development of university staff. Internationally active academics and scientists strengthen international exchange and cooperation in the faculties with a teaching stay, impart specialist knowledge to students and, on the other hand, get to know the partner universities in Europe and worldwide better. They also gain new perspectives with a training placement on the basis of a coordinated programme. The focus here is on professional exchange and the strengthening of their own competence as well as the expansion and deepening of networks. What is being funded?

For an ERASMUS Staff Mobility for Teaching (STA) the teaching load must be at least 8 teaching hours per stay or per week or part thereof. For stays of 8 days or more, a pro rata charge will be made.

Staff Mobility for Training purposes (STT) can include the following contents (substanive eligibility criteries):

• Hospitations
• Job shadowing (individual)
• Study visits
• Participation in curriculum development (lecturers)
• Participation in workshops and seminars (Staff Weeks)
• Participation in language courses 
• Participation in conferences or research projects CANNOT BE FUNDED

Das Sprint-Programm of TUD contains a stay abroad, which can be  funded over ERASMUS.

Where can I go?

Programme Countries (KA131)

Member States of the EU: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Cyprus.

Outside the EU: United Kingdom (please check the current funding status at the International Office of the TU Dresden), former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Serbia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey.

Partner Countries (KA171)

Worldwide, e.g. Australia, Vietnam, South Africa - depending on the currently approved country projects. Country projects with universities in the partner countries can be applied for once a year in a qualified procedure.

Teaching visits can only be funded if a valid inter-institutional agreement has been concluded with a partner university for the relevant academic year in the subject area, which includes personnel mobility (STA).

Important for mobility with partner countries: A valid inter-institutional agreement is also a prerequisite for further training stays.

Information on this is available from the ERASMUS representatives or ERASMUS coordinators in the respective departments as well as from the International Office of the TU Dresden and from the database on the right.

Who can be funded?

The ERASMUS mobility grant is available to all employees of TU Dresden. Prerequisite is an employment contract (contracts also based on: WHK) with the TU Dresden.

This includes the following group of people (formale eligibility criteries):

• Lecturers and scientific staff
• PhD students with employment contract
• Seniorprofessors
• Staff from general and technical administration: Staff from the Schools, faculties, institutes, chairs, central facilities and central administration.

How much is the financial support?

Those receiving funding receive fixed financial grants for their stay abroad, depending on the destination country.

• Duration of funding in programme countries: 2-12 days
• Duration of funding in partner countries: 5-12 days

In addition, one day for arrival and one day for departure can be taken into account for the grant. Longer funding periods (max. 2 months) are only possible after consultation with the International Office.

Due to the ERASMUS funding made available, financial support is limited to a maximum of 14 funding days plus travel allowance.

The subsidy for the stay is between 140 Euro and 180 Euro per day (depending on the country) - see table:

For travel costs, unit costs/flat rates between 20 Euro and 1500 Euro, staggered by distance category (distance to be determined by EU online calculator) are paid:

Note: There is no legal claim to the funding. Approval is subject to the provision and availability of funds.

Green Travel

Green Travel can be chosen, if most oft he trip is with option green travel. (Definition european commission: „Green travel is defined as the travel that uses low-emissions means of transport fot the main part oft he travel, such as bus, train or car-pooling.“)

The funding has an higher travel allowance and can combined with funding for till 4 additional travel days.

Notice:

Staff Mobilities are education and training trips. In form application for a business trip (DR-Antrag) choose Aus- und Fortbildungsreise (no Dienstreise).

There is no co-financing allowed (with other fundings).

The funding will be paid on privat konto. Thats why you have to book privat (not about travel agency of TUD).  No accounting to the TUD.

There is no legal entitlement to funding. Approval is subject tot he availability of funds.

Cancellation costs will not be reimbursed. We recommend travel cancellation insurance.

Please note the information on travel conditions (RKI, Ministry of foreign affair).

Obligation to declare to the tax office:

Because oft he lump sums there may be overpayments. Overpayments must to be taxed by the travaller (tax declaration).

How can I apply?

An ERASMUS Lectureship or an ERASMUS Training Stay requires early planning and coordination with your partner university or institution. If you will apply at a company, an organisation or language school contact the Leonardo-Büro-Sachsen.

• Please submit the following steps in application portal Mobility Online at least 30 days before your stay:
  • Application Teaching and Training at partner universities: Applicationplatform
  • Application Training (only K131): Applicationplatform
  • The form Mobility Agreement Teaching / Training is also available on the application portal Moblity Online. Please upload the form on portal.

• The International Office will then send you the Grant Agreement with the approved funds for signature. For the transfer of the 1^st installment (70%), the following documents must be submitted to the International Office:
  • The original of your application for a business trip ("DR-Antrag")  (http://www.verw.tu-dresden.de/VerwRicht/Formulare/) with your signature and the signature of the ordering/authorising officer in point 17
  • the original of your signed Grant Agreement

Important: A1 form: Business travellers in other EU countries as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland must carry an A1 certificate. The A1 certificate must be applied for in good time via the employer (here: TU Dresden, Department of Personnel). Please also take into account the information on necessary deployment certificates for other countries (Morocco, Canada etc.).

What do I have to consider after my stay?

• The following documents must be submitted to the International Office within 30 days of the end of your stay:
  • Original of your "DR-Antrag"
  • Original of your "DR-Abrechnung" (http://www.verw.tu-dresden.de/VerwRicht/Formulare/)

  • Confirmation of Teaching or Confirmation of Training signed on the last day of the stay: confirmation of the host university of successful teaching/further training.

  • After the stay, a short final report (EU online survey) must be submitted online within 30 days. The link for this will be sent to you by automated e-mail (please check your spam folder).

  • Afterwards the transfer of the 2^nd installment (30%) will follow.

How do I invite my partners for a return visit?

By inviting your hosts or other partners to the TU Dresden, you strengthen the respective university partnership, support the internationalisation of the TU Dresden and enable your faculty to gain new perspectives in the exchange of knowledge. Guest lecturers at the TU Dresden complement your own course offerings and also help students to break down mobility barriers and any prejudices that may exist.

Depending on their country of origin, university staff can apply for Erasmus+ funding directly at their home university (Europe/Programme Countries) or at the International Office of TU Dresden (worldwide/Partner Countries).
