Digital Archive of Mathematical Models

Fadenmodell einer Fläche vierter Ordnung, Martin Schilling 1892
The DFG project "Digital Archive of Mathematical Models" (DAMM) examines how object-related scientific collections can be presented online and networked in order to be more usable as a research infrastructure. One focus of the project is the digitization of spatial objects of different materiality and the use of the digitized data for interactive exploration and presentation options. Several methods for capturing the models were investigated, with preference given to cost-effective concepts based on the open source concept. In 2012, the German Research Foundation (DFG) approved a grant for the project as part of the funding line "Indexing and digitization of object-related scientific collections". The aim is to digitize and archive mathematical models for freely accessible multimedia presentation and flexible research via the Internet.
