The Collections of TU Dresden's Office for Academic Heritage, Scientific and Art Collections
TU Dresden is home to 40 collections from the fields of science and technology, in addition to extensive art collections.
Collecting and Preserving
The Technische Universität Dresden, one of the oldest technical educational institutes in Germany, boasts an extensive stock of collections in science and technology as well as wide-ranging art exhibits. Preserved and maintained by the Office for Academic Heritage, together with numerous partially honorary collection managers, these material witnesses to scientific and artistic activity represent an important factor in the university's culture of remembrance. Most recently with increasing development, they have become the subject of significant plans for collection-based research. The digitalization of the collections offers new perspectives for their public appreciation and reciprocal networking in the sense of TU Dresden's Mission Statement. As research infrastructures, they are the object of lively interest for interdisciplinary plans pursuant to further scientific exploration of the museum items in the University and their integration into completely new cultural contexts.
Additional information on the individual collections is available via the links below or in our comprehensive collection booklet. The Office for Academic Heritage, Scientific and Art Collections' permanent exhibition displays a cross-section of the collections.
