Global Health Initiative Spring School Dresden startet
The interdisciplinary Global Health Initiative Spring School Dresden will take place from March 11 - 15, 2024 and jointly organised by the Department of General Practice and The Department of Political Sciences at the Medical Faculty of TU Dresden.
For the second time, max. 30 students from different fields at the TU Dresden will attend a one week course with speakers from various national and international universities, institutes and organizations including the Robert Koch Institute, Doctors without Borders, WHO, and Health for Future Dresden. Ukrainian medical residents and students will join the course in Dresden. In addition to lectures, the students will work together on interactive case studies.
The goal of the Spring School is to introduce students to general concepts of global health, such as the social determinants of health, the role of primary care and public health in providing universal health coverage, comparative health systems, and the landscape of global health actors. It will address three global health topics - migration and health, pandemic preparedness and One Health, and Planetary Health and climate change. The emphasis will be placed on providing basic knowledge and tools, such as analytical skills, related to cultural sensitivity competencies and transcultural communication, to discuss and find solutions to the above mentioned global health challenges. The course will be conducted in mainly in English and is desiged as an interdisciplinary blended learning event for all the interested students at the TU Dresden.
