Biosample management, data management, and integrative data science
The overall aim of this project (PZ2) is to provide FOR5953 with efficient and sustainable data handling and management, integrative and translational Bioinformatics, access to and integration/linking of samples from the BioBank Dresden. Objective 1: Provision of robust data management for all FOR 5953 projects. This project coordinates the overall data management according to the proposed data management plan. Together with the FOR’s data management steward (DMS) we will set up a suitable data storage infrastructure and access policy in collaboration with the ZIH (Center for Information Services and High-performance Computing), provide standardized documentation, workflows, and user guides, set up a wiki for FAQs and provide further trainings and workshops. The DMS will maintain the system and keep it updated and ensure FAIR and sustainable data availability. We advise individual projects in terms of experimental sample planning with considerations for later data analyses. Objective 2: Biobanking workflows. We will establish a workflow for sample recruitment and sample handling from MI patients. We will develop an automated technology for PBMC subtype sample preparation as a basis for scientific analyses requested in other ETNA projects. We also focus on the implementation of NMR spectroscopy in biobanking workflows. Objective 3: Integrative Bioinformatics. We will integrate the generated data and research results from each individual project focusing on generating further insights into overarching research goals such as sexual differences in immunometabolism and excessive fibrosis post-MI. This includes data mining and leveraging publicly available data and databases as well as advanced computational methods for multi-modal data integration and translation from model to clinic. Furthermore, we will apply specialized computational tools for lipidomics data analyses and for mechanistically linking lipidomics to the overall biological machinery.
