Georg Forster Research Awards
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is granting up to six Georg Forster Research Awards every year to internationally renowned scientists from emerging and developing countries (except China and India). The Georg Forster Research Award is granted to the academics for their entire achievements up to date. Researchers of all disciplines can be nominated, especially those who want to shape their findings beyond their discipline and who are expected to continue developing research-based solutions to the challenges facing transition and developing countries.
The nomination needs to be done by an established scientist working at a university or other research institution in Germany. Prerequisite for the nomination is an excellent international science carrier with corresponding research successes. Researchers, whose scientific achievements have already been awarded a prize by the Foundation, are excluded from the nomination.
The award amount totals 60,000 EUR. However, nominees need to guarantee that the necessary infrastructure is in place to carry out their self-selected research project. To support the cooperation, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation can contribute additional funds of up to 25,000 EUR.
Nomination applications can only be submitted in an online procedure. An independent selection committee of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation decides on the nominations once a year. Information on all necessary documents, as well as information on online nomination and access to the online nomination form, are available on the website of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation: https://www.humboldt-foundation.de/en/apply/sponsorship-programmes/georg-forster-research-award
