Head of the Department Visits Strategic Partner in Adelaide
Earlier this month, Maike Heber, Head of the Department for Development and International Affairs at the Faculty of Medicine, visited the Flinders University in Adelaide (Australia), a strategic partner of the department.
Since Flinders recently undertook extensive administrative reorganisation, the aim of the trip was to meet the new faces, especially in the Department for International Engagement. Furthermore, Mrs Heber participated in various meetings concerned with the discussion of new cooperations. Amongst others, she met up with Anthony Maeder and Lua Perimal-Lewis, who visited Dresden in summer this year and are planning to introduce a DementiaApp onto the Saxonian market.
During a network meeting on TechTransfer with other research institutions from Adelaide, Mrs Heber had a happy reunion with Summer School Alumni Albert Ruiz-Vargas. He is currently working on his start-up in the field of biomedical engineering. The annual “International Summer School on Technology Transfer in Life Sciences” in Dresden, in which he took part this summer, provided him with invaluable input for his project.
Additionally, Mrs Heber held some fruitful discussions with her long-time colleague Stephanie Agius about a possible extension of the cooperation to the University of South Australia. In conclusion, it can be said that the visit to Adelaide was a complete success.
