Pm4Onco: Exciting work package-meeting in Halle

A joint work package-meeting within the MII-project PM4Onco - Personalised Medicine for Oncology took place in Halle on 25 and 26 March. WP3 (Patient Journey) and WP5 (Visual Analytics) were involved. Our research associates Dr. Markus Wolfien and Sara Bäcker took part on behalf of the IMB.
The first day of the group meeting was filled with informative presentations on the current status within the work packages, the latest results and milestone planning on the topics of MTB-cBioPortal, patient similarity and study search. These topics were discussed in detail in the plenary session. A joint dinner rounded off the first day.
The second day in Halle was dedicated to a workshop on patient similarity entitled ‘Analysis of similar patients for personalised therapy: development of search strategies’. A methodology for identifying similar patients within a dataset was developed in 4 smaller groups. Similarity criteria were discussed and prioritised; search strategies and workflows were visualised.
The meeting turned out to be very successful for the PM4Onco team and our two representatives and was an important personal exchange in the spirit of networking and dialog - in addition to the bi-weekly online AP-meetings.
The joint-project PM4Onco - Personalised Medicine for Oncology aims to improve the use of data between oncological centres of excellence in order to promote tailored therapies for patients. At the same time, the aim is to utilise this data with the help of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) methods to identify new signatures or predictions of therapy response.
