New research section "Public Mental Health", headed by Prof. Dr. Susan Garthus-Niegel
The IPAS expands its research and welcomes Prof. Dr. Susan Garthus-Niegel and her team of dedicated scientists to the newly founded research section "Public Mental Health". This research section is particularly concerned with the research on mental health and well-being of women and families. Topics such as the peripartal time, the balance of family and professional life or domestic violence are examined with epidemiological studies, systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
One focus of the new research section Public Mental Health is the multi-methodal cohort study DREAM – DResdner Study on Parenthood, Work and Mental Health, which is aimed at (expectant) parents. Participating parents are accompanied from pregnancy until the child is 4.5 years of age and relevant data from the child(ren) and parents are collected using questionnaires, biopsychological measures and qualitative interviews.
