W3 Chair for Preventive Work & Life Trajectories
Within the W3 Chair for Preventive Work & Life Trajectories, research and evidence-based further development of prevention chains across life phases is carried out on the basis of the trajectory concept. Interactions between working and living environments are addressed with particular consideration of gender-dependent factors. It is investigated which influencing factors promote and which inhibit a life course that ensures physical and mental health as well as employability and professional and social participation. At the same time, there is a focus on specific phases of life and transitions, such as the transition to parenthood. A particular focus is on the lighthouse project DREAM ("DResdenStudy on Parenthood, Workand MentalHealth"), which deals with the interactions between parental employment, role allocation and their long-term effects on health and family relationships. Furthermore, sustainably effective prevention concepts that can be transferred into practice are to be developed. For example, the MSCA Joint Doctoral Network HAP3 ("Healthy Adaptation to Pregnancy, Postpartum and Parenthood") investigates prevention-related risk and protective factors in relation to the etiology of obesity and mental health problems and develops an integrative app for families and healthcare professionals to prevent these health problems. Methodologically, prospective cohort studies and mixed methods approaches are used in particular. Participatory approaches are also used to ensure that the results are highly relevant to practice.
In teaching, the Chair is represented with prevention-related courses in the degree programs Medicine, Public Health and Midwifery. She is responsible for the compulsory module "Prevention and Health Promotion" and the compulsory elective module "Cross-phase prevention in working and living environments" in the Master's degree program in Public Health. She is also in charge of the sub-module "Prevention and Health Promotion" in the "Family Health" module of the Bachelor's degree course in Midwifery.
The core research areas anchored in the Chair are directly linked to previous projects in the research area of Public Mental Health.
