In this follow-up survey we are recording the health situation of the students at the Technical University Dresden. We are focusing on the individual health together with the study-specific requirements and stress and their effects.
Are you satisfied with your studies? How do you rate your study situation in terms of your health?
We would like to examine these and other questions about the circumstances of the students as part of the online survey. By participating in the survey, we receive information about your health-related study situation. This is the only way to identify health risk factors and starting points for university health management that are actually relevant for you and other students. The results give the opportunity to develop specific measures and to promote your personal health through prevention and counseling offers.
We therefor cordially invite you to partcipate in the survey and would like to inform you advance about the course of the study, the handling of the research data and your right of withdrawal.
3.5 million people in Germany are currently working and studying at universities. More and more people are being trained more intensively and efficiently by universities.
The reforms of the Bologna process have often been criticized with the argument that the shortening of the study periods leads to increased requirements, which are also associated with higher health burdens for students. These developments are accompanied by noticeable financial and personnel restrictions at the universities, which demand a lot from teachers and students. Healthier study and working conditions are discussed in view of the current developments at many German universities. It also addresses the question of what opportunities and risks participation in higher education offers for a healthy and active life and the development of a corresponding lifestyle, and what can be done to increase health opportunities and minimize risks.
With this in mind, the aim of the study is the long-term support and establishment of study-related and individualized measures for prevention and health promotion at the TU Dresden. These measures should be based on your needs as a student. The aim is to improve the health situation of students.
Your current health status and your opinion on existing offers at the TU Dresden or on gaps in the offer are of fundamental importance to us in order to be able to guarantee a tailor-made development of prevention offers.
All students at the TU Dresden (with the exception of the medical faculty) are invited by email to take part in an online survey several times.
We would like to obtain basic personal information from all study participants, their current state of health, possible health impairments that make their studies difficult, and study-related and individual stress and strain. Participation in the survey takes about 20 minutes and is, of course, voluntary.
The results of the survey are evaluated and compared with the data from the previous survey respectively the data of people who took part at both times of the survey are merged (via the personal code). Any changes in the state of health and possible influencing factors can be identified in this way. In addition, the results form a basis for the further development of the prevention and counseling services at the TU Dresden.
You are making an important contribution to identifying stress and strain on students at TU Dresden and identifying necessary preventive and health promotion measures by participating in our study. The results help the development of study-related and individualized prevention offers. Overall, your participation in the study will strengthen and improve your health and the health of other TUD students.
There are no risks associated with participating in the study and there are no costs for you.
Participation in this survey is voluntary. You can stop taking part in the survey at any time and without giving reasons and without incurring any disadvantages. The data collected as part of this study will be treated as strictly confidential. All project employees are subject to confidentiality.
The university and the respective departments or institutes never receive any information as to whether or not you took part in the study. Of course, the university and the departments do not have access to your information either.
In the study, data is collected using an online-based questionnaire. The survey takes place on a server certified by the Federal Office for Information Security. The data will be deleted after the survey has been completed.
A pseudonymised data record from which personal data (e.g. e-mail addresses) are deleted and replaced with a code that cannot be linked personally to the respondent is stored and processed exclusively by the project team. At the beginning of the survey you will be asked to enter a personal code. This code is called a "one-way key" and is made up of information known only to you. It is used to pseudonymise the collected data: this means that the data record contains neither your name nor any other information that would enable your identity to be determined. Nevertheless, with the personal code known only to you ("disposable key"), it is possible to merge the data from different survey times (e.g. initial survey and follow-up survey), because at each survey time you will be asked to enter this personal code, which is only known to you.
The research data is temporarily stored with the one-way key on the servers of Questback GmbH (collection agency) and deleted after transmission to the project-internal evaluation agency.
