25th DZD Workshop Dresden
Table of contents
The upcoming DZD workshop will take place in Dresden on October 11/12 and is organized by Michele Solimena and his team at the PLID. This time, the focus lies on two topics:
- Organ cross talk in the pathophysiology of diabetes is highlighted by the Prevention of Type 2 Diabetes and Complications of Diabetes Academies.
- Beta Cell – Immune Cell Interaction in Type 1 Diabetes is presented as common topic of the Beta Cell and Pancreatic Islet Protection and Regeneration and Prevention and Pathogenesis of Type 1 Diabetes Academies.
Moreover, short talks and posters will provide an overview on the latest results and exciting projects.

Corona Virus Precautions
Regarding corona regulations, we would kindly like to ask you to self- test (not PCR or official tests) before your arrival on October 11 / 12 and also if applicable on the second morning before the start of the meeting.
We would also like to suggest you wear a mask while inside the lecture room. Please bring tests and masks with you for your personal use. We will have a limited amount available on site.

Accommodation and Venue
Hotel Elbflorenz is centrally located on the periphery of Dresden's Old Town. You can reach it comfortably by car or public transport. Parking is available and the Tram stop from the main station is right outside the door. Contingent of rooms (91 EUR/night incl breakfast) is blocked until September 19!

Arrival by Train:
TRAM
Directly in front of the train station (exit "Wiener Platz/Prager Straße") you will find the Tram stop. If your train ticket includes a "City" option, you can use it to take the tram to the hotel for free.
- Take line 10 in the direction of "Dresden Messe" or line 7 in the direction of "Pennrich".
- Get off at the second stop "Freiberger Straße (World Trade Center)".
- You will find the Hotel Elbflorenz on the right side of the World Trade Center.
TAXI
Hotel Elbflorenz is only two kilometers away from the Dresden train station. At the station, take the exit "Wiener Platz/Prager Straße" to get to the Taxi stand. By Taxi you will reach the Hotel Elbflorenz in about 5 minutes.
Arrival by Plane:
TRAM
- Take the S-Bahn line S2 in the direction of "Bahnhof Pirna".
- Get off at the station "Freiberger Straße".
- You will find Hotel Elbflorenz on the right side of the World Trade Center as seen from the station.
- The journey time is 20 minutes. Please note that the S-Bahn trains between the airport and the city center run every 30 minutes.
TAXI
Hotel Elbflorenz is located only twelve kilometers from Dresden Airport. Depending on the traffic, it will take you about 15 minutes by Taxi to reach Hotel Elbflorenz.

ATTENTION: The entrance to Rosenstraße (hotel entrance) via Ammonstraße is fully blocked!!! The access to Rosenstraße is possible via Maternistraße!
PARKING PLACES
At the Hotel Elbflorenz and in the surrounding area you have several possibilities to park your car.
- In-house underground parking with direct access to the hotel: 12,00 Euro per day
- In front of the hotel: free of charge
- Side street: 3,00 Euro per day | parking spaces do not belong to the hotel
From the freeway coming from the north and east
Leave the freeway at the Dresden-Hellerau junction in the direction of the city center.
After the railroad underpass at Neustadt station, turn right into Antonstraße and continue over the Marienbrücke bridge and straight ahead until you reach the World Trade Center.
Hotel Elbflorenz Dresden is located next to the World Trade Center, which is easily recognizable by its round glass tower.
From the freeway coming from the west
Leave the freeway at the Dresden-Altstadt junction in the direction of the city center.
Keep driving towards the center and straight ahead along Meißner Landstraße, Hamburger Straße and Schäferstraße.
After passing under the railroad, turn right onto Könneritzstraße, which is called Ammonstraße in the further course, until you reach the World Trade Center.
The Hotel Elbflorenz Dresden is located next to the World Trade Center. You can recognize it by the round glass tower.
