8th Joint Dresden DZG Symposium
May 11th, 2026 | 1:00-5:15pm | BioInnovationsZentrum, Tatzberg 47/49, 01307 DD
On May 11th, 2026, the 8th Joint Dresden DZG Symposium will take place during the afteroon in the conference floor of the BioInnovationsZentrum, Tatzberg 47/49, 01307 Dresden. We would be happy if you could join the symposium.
Dresden brings together four German Centers for Health Research (DZG): the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK), the Paul Langerhans Institute Dresden of the German Center for Diabetes Research (PLID-DZD), the German Center for Child and Adolescent Health (DZKJ) and the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE). Founded by the BMBF (now BMFTR), these centers share a common mission: to accelerate the translation of cutting-edge research into better prevention and treatment of major diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, diabetes, and child and adolescents’ diseases.
The Joint Dresden DZG Symposium offers a dynamic platform for scientists across career stages to connect, exchange ideas, and explore new research strategies and technologies across centers. It is an opportunity to discover complementary expertise and resources in Dresden, identify synergies, and initiate interdisciplinary DZG collaborations.
We are pleased to welcome Prof. Anette-Gabriele Ziegler of Helmholtz Munich as this year’s keynote speaker who will give her perspective on how to change clinical practice for type 1 diabetes through research.
At the symposium, we will launch the 2026 call for DZG-overarching projects. The program supports early-career researchers in building strong partnerships and advancing collaborative research. Dedicated networking sessions will provide space to meet potential partners and shape new joint initiatives. Further details on the how to apply for a overarching project will be given at the symposium.
We look forward to welcoming you for an inspiring afternoon of science and collaboration.
Common goal: research results shall reach patients faster
Basic researchers and clinicians work together in the DZG to transfer scientific results more quickly into medical practice and thus provide patients with optimal care. Collaboration across disciplinary and institutional boundaries is a strength of our organisation and is indispensable for successful translation from the laboratory to the clinic.
