REWE Team Challenge: Running for Research and Health
This year, the Paul Langerhans Institute Dresden put together a motivated team and proudly took part in the 2025 Dresden REWE Team Challenge—joining 30,000 runners on a 5-kilometer course through the heart of the city. As a research institute focused on diabetes, participating in this community event was not only a chance to promote team spirit, but also a way to highlight the importance of physical activity in the prevention and management of diabetes.
Our team ran together with purpose—each stride symbolizing our commitment to improving the lives of people with diabetes. Exercise plays a vital role in blood sugar regulation, cardiovascular health, and overall well-being, making this event a natural extension of our mission. It is inspiring to see colleagues from across the institute encourage one another and embrace a healthy lifestyle, both in and out of the lab.
Beyond the finish line, the challenge reminded us that science doesn’t just happen behind microscopes or computer screens—it’s also about connecting with our community, leading by example, and staying active in every sense. We're already looking ahead to next year’s run, and to continuing our work toward a healthier future for all.
A big thank you to all participants from the PLID: Obada, Adrianna, Christiane, Hassan, Maria, Anuradha, Padmapriya, Laura Jane, Sofia, Anika, Augusto, Laurem, Christian and Frank - you were awesome! 💪
Furthermore, we would like to thank the Head Office of the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD e.V.) for their financial and material support!
