Paul Langerhans Institute Dresden Takes on the REWE Team Challenge
PLID/DZD team for the REWE team challenge
The Paul Langerhans Institute Dresden once again demonstrated its commitment to health, teamwork, and community by participating in this year's Dresden REWE Team Challenge. Joining thousands of runners on the iconic 5-kilometer route through the city center, institute members traded lab coats for running shoes and embraced the opportunity to promote an active lifestyle.
As part of the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD e.V.), an organisation dedicated to advancing diabetes research, the PLID's participation in this event provided a fitting platform to highlight the importance of regular physical activity for overall health and diabetes prevention. Colleagues from across the PLID encouraged one another throughout the course, creating a strong sense of camaraderie and shared achievement on the road as they do in the lab.
For many participants, the experience was both memorable and motivating. One first-time runner reflected on the event, saying: “It was never on my bucket list to do such a run, but it was quite an experience, with the crowds supporting us and there was a great feeling running together with others. I am going to start doing this regularly.”
The challenge served as a reminder that promoting health extends beyond scientific research. By taking part in community events and leading by example, the institute continues to champion the values of well-being, teamwork, and healthy living. The team is already looking forward to lacing up their running shoes again for next year's challenge.
Our hearfelt thanks go to the Head Office of the DZD for their financial and material support!
