Virology at the Faculty of Medicine of the TU Dresden

Welcome to web page of the joint Institutes of Medical Microbiology and Hygiene as well Virology. We are located on the campus of the Faculty of Medicine "Carl Gustav Carus" on the ground floor and 1. floor of the Medical-Theoretical Center (MTZ, C-Wing).

The institutes provide a broad spektrum of services in Laboratory Diagnostics of infectious diseases and environmental hygiene, as well as basic and advance education in the area of Microbiology, Virology and Hygiene for students in Medicine and Natural Sciences as well as physicians. Furthermore, both institutes are involved in a broad spektrum of research activities studying various pathogens.

The major research interest of the Institute of Virology is in the area of Molecular Retrovirology.
