Bakteriopolis: The hidden world of microbes!
We are pleased to present the travelling exhibition Bakteriopolis, part of the DFG-funded special priority program (SPP 2389) "Emergent Functions of Bacterial Multicellularity."
This unique exhibition, coordinated by the Chair of General Microbiology at the TU Dresden, offers a fascinating insight into the world of bacteria.

About the exhibition:
Bakteriopolis transforms an existing container into an interactive experience that appeals to visitors of all ages. Thus, in collaboration with the Interactive Media Lab, using an augmented reality app, visitors will enjoy an interactive exploration of the different bacterial components, bacterial organization, and social interactions. The exhibition emphasizes bacteria's omnipresence and presents their versatility in different fields.
Highlights of the exhibition:
- Bacterial Multicellularity: Vivid examples, such as the production of water kefir or the conducting functions of cable bacteria, illustrate aspects of multicellularity in bacteria.
- Hands-on stations: Various hands-on stations, including an interactive exploration of the tree of life, microscopy and craft activities, offer visitors of all ages an insight into the microcosm of bacteria.
