In situ adsorption and powder diffraction measurements - Study on dynamic host-guest interactions at porous Metal-Organic Frameworks
Duration: July 2010 - June 2013
The aim of this project is the installation and optimization of a measurement setup at BESSY II in Berlin, where concerted measurements of adsorption isotherms and diffraction patterns are possible.
An automated gas dosing system (Belsorp Max) was installed at the beamlines 7T-MPW-MagS and KMC-2 at BESSY II. Hence, it was proven that in situ adsorption and powder diffraction measurements are a powerful tool in revealing the structural changes of porous metal-organic frameworks. The gate pressure effect of the concerning MOFs can then be comprehended by the adsorption isotherms and the phase transitions can be understood by the analysis of the concerted measured diffraction patterns, which are recorded at relevant adsorption points.
