“Control of neuronal activity with light: from brain waves to individual synapses”
Prof. Pau Gorostiza from IBEC Catalonia (Spain) is visiting Dresden, please join us and motivate your research groups to attend in force! and please also pass this message on to other interested colleagues.
Pau's lab develops a range of nanoscale tools to study biological systems (pub list here). His talk on “Control of neuronal activity with light: from brain waves to individual synapses” should be of interest for the neuroscience, photochemistry, cell biology, Chemical biology, and imaging networks. His research in photocontrol is rather special in the field, due to his heavy in vivo focus, and it will be exciting to see the latest developments in this direction.
He also works on e.g. photomodulated polymers for triggered drug release, studying electron transfer in redox proteins, and using electrochemical tunnelling microscopy and spectroscopy and single molecule force spectroscopy: so I imagine some of you will have good topics to exchange on.
