WORK BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Zhiyong Wang is the research group leader of the Chair of Molecular Functional Materials at Technische Universität Dresden and the Department of Synthetic Materials and Functional Devices (SMFD) at Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics. In October 2017, he joined Prof. Xinliang Feng’s group in Technische Universität Dresden as a PhD student. He received his doctoral degree in Chemistry in November 2021. Then he was appointed as a research group leader for the 2D polymer and interfacial synthesis subgroup in the Chair and SMFD Department.
ACADEMIC EMPLOYMENT
- 09/2018 – present: Guest scholar, Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden, Germany
- 12/2021 – present: Research group leader, Technische Universität Dresden & Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics, Germany
RESEARCH INTERESTS
His current research interests focus on (1) Development of interfacial synthesis methodology; (2) Design and synthesis of organic 2D crystals (O2DCs, e.g., 2D polymers, 2D COFs and 2D MOFs) with tailored physical and chemical properties; (3) Fundamental study of the 2D polymerization and crystallization on the water surface; (4) Implementation of O2DCs in various applications such as optoelectronics, van der Waals heterostructures and membranes (e.g., osmotic energy conversion and electrode protective layers for energy storage devices).
