Our group members work across organic synthesis & pharmaceutical chemistry, biochemistry, and cell biology, to bring chemical systems straight into biological applications. We use chemical biology to develop biochemically, biologically, or optically targeted reagents for research and for translational therapeutic applications. This fascinating and challenging goal brings together organic synthesis, biochemistry, cell biology, and in vivo biology.

We are broadly active in three research areas: (1) photoresponsive inhibitors and materials as high-precision tools; (2) chemical cascade systems for studies of redox and metabolism; (3) new chemical concepts for optical imaging techniques.
