CARE Cluster of Excellence approved
With CARE ("Clean And Resilient Building for the Environment"), TU Dresden is launching a new Cluster of Excellence dedicated entirely to climate-neutral construction. Scientists from various disciplines are working together here to develop innovative materials, resource-saving processes and sustainable building concepts.
The Weidinger working group has a clear focus here: We are researching the electrochemical production of cement precursors - a process that, unlike conventional methods, does not require extremely high temperatures. The energy required can come entirely from climate-neutral sources.
Cement is one of the biggest CO₂ emitters in the world. Our approach has the potential to significantly reduce emissions from the building materials industry - and thus make an important contribution to climate-neutral construction.
