The SFB 1415 organizes its fourth General Assembly
The consortium of the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 1415 "Chemistry of Synthetic Two-Dimensional Materials" as well as the newly appointed Scientific Advisory Board (members of the advisory board: Prof. Klaus Müllen, Prof. Hans-Peter Steinrück, Prof. Claudia Draxl), met on December 13, 2021 for the virtual General Assembly. Within the frame of the General Assembly, the scientific research progress of the initiative as well as strategic and organizational issues have been discussed.
In addition, the CRC consortium was pleased to welcome Prof. Hans-Peter Steinrück, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, for the seminar lecture "Surface Science of Complex Molecular Systems". During his talk, Prof. Steinrück presented two complex classes of adsorbates, namely porphyrins and ionic liquids on metal surfaces. In order to obtain the required detailed insights in such systems, advanced experimental tools have to be applied. One particularly versatile method is X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, which allows for deriving quantitative information on the adsorption as well as chemical reactions on surfaces. Combined with the complementary information on the real space structure, a comprehensive picture of the relevant surface structures and processes can be obtained.
We thank the members of the Scientific Advisory Board for tthe valuable exchange. Moreover, we would like to thank Prof. Steinrück for an exciting seminar lecture.
We wish all members of the CRC 1415 a merry, peaceful and blessed Christmas season and a happy, healthy and successful New Year!
