Guest Lecture Prof. Dr. Ursula Wurstbauer
Prof. Dr. Ursula Wurstbauer, Institute of Physics, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, opened the monthly seminar series 2021 of the Collaborative Research Centre 1415 with her lecture "Light-matter Interaction in 2D Polar Metals and TMDC Hybrids". Within the frame of her scientific talk she presented her studies on the optical response of two-dimensional (2D) polar metals such as 2D gallium (Ga) and 2D indium (In) embedded in half-van der Waals heterostructures and hybrid structures with semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs). The 2D metals exhibit fascinating properties like superconductivity strong plasmonic response in the visible range, and strong nonlinear optical properties. Due to the half-van der Waals nature, the 2D metals can be combined with other van der Waals materials to achieve novel functionalities.
We would like to thank Prof. Dr. Ursula Wurstbauer and the audience for their participation on the 1th CRC seminar in 2021.
