Event Announcement: 1st International Symposium on „Chemistry, Physics & Devices of Organic 2D Crystals”
We are delighted to announce the first international symposium and the subsequent autumn school on the topic “Chemistry, Physics & Devices of Organic 2D Crystals,” to be held from October 6 to 10, 2025 at Penck Hotel Dresden.
The three-day symposium, taking place from October 6–8, 2025, will bring together numerous participants, including leading scientists and early-career researchers from around the world to discuss the latest advancements and future developments in the field of organic 2D crystals. The current program includes a total of 31 expert talks, with scientific contributions from:
Prof. Dr. Thomas Bein, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Germany
Prof. Dr. Mischa Bonn, Max-Planck-Institut für Polymerforschung, Germany
Prof Dr. Giorgio Contini, La Sapienza University, Italy
Prof Dr. Steven De Feyter, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Netherlands
Prof. Dr. William Dichtel, Northwestern University, USA
Prof. Dr. Donglin Jiang, National University of Singapore, Singapore
Prof. Dr. Ute Kaiser, Universität Ulm, Germany
Prof. Dr. Thomas J. Kempa, Johns Hopkins University, USA
Prof. Dr. Markus Lackinger, Technische Universität München, Germany
Prof. Dr. Feng Liu, University of Utah, USA
Dr. Hiroaki Maede, Tokyo University of Science, Japan
Prof. Dr. Katherine Mirica, Darthmouth College, USA
Dr. Julius J. Oppenheim, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA
Prof. Dr. Dmytro F. Perepichka, McGill University, Canada

Prof. Dr. Grégory Schneider, Leiden University, Netherlands
Prof. Dr. Henning Sirringhaus, University of Cambridge, Great Britain
Dr. Minghao Yu, Technische Universität Dresden, Germany
Prof. Dr. Wei Zhang, University of Colorado Boulder, USA
The keynote presentations by renowned researchers will be complemented by two poster sessions (each with 50 poster slots), offering early-career scientists the opportunity to present their own research and results. Participants can also look forward to a rich social program, including a welcome reception, an exclusive conference dinner with networking opportunities, and a guided walking tour through Dresden’s historic old town.
Following the symposium, the two-day autumn school will take place on October 9–10, 2025, dedicated specifically to doctoral candidates and young researchers seeking to deepen their expertise in the field of organic 2D crystals. The practice-oriented program, comprising six individual tutorials, will feature in-depth lessons, lively interaction, and active discussion sessions. In addition, a small career fair will be held alongside the tutorials to provide insight into potential career paths beyond academia.
We cordially invite scientists and early-career researchers to participate in this new, innovative, and interdisciplinary event. For more information and registration, please visit the official event website
