Course "Computer applications in chemistry"

Overview
The study event “Computer applications in chemistry” is a part of the study programmes Chemistry/bachelor (module FQ – interdisciplinary qualification, until 2022) and Food Chemistry/diploma (subject area basic qualification). The course takes place in divided groups once per week during one double lesson.
The goal is to mediate the essential knowledge and the practical training in the following areas:
• Safe usage of the networked computer systems in the subject area (data network, data protection, data security)
• Qualified application of the relevant software (capture, analysis, and evaluation of chemical data)
• Information procurement in chemistry (dealing with the chemical research systems and databases)
The basic knowledge in dealing with the operating system Windows and standard software is required (text editing, spreadsheet application).
The material and the exercises are offered exclusively online. The corresponding pages are password-protected. You can ask responsible persons for the necessary access data.

Registration and attestation dates
Course and final test
For the participation in the course and the corresponding final test, the online registration is absolutely necessary.
Attention: the definition of the concrete test dates (execution in groups) proceeds during the study events!
The retake of the test
The retake of the test is possible on the specified dates in the regular test period of time in the following year (the end of the January until the beginning of February).
The registration to the retaking of the test occurs via OPAL system with the ZIH login of TU Dresden.
