Poster Session Marks the Conclusion of the Undergraduate Laboratory Course

A conference-like atmosphere filled the corridors of the Recknagel Building: anyone listening closely could hear lively discussions about physics.

On 17 July 2026, the poster session of the Physics Laboratory Course was held for the third time, marking the culmination of the undergraduate laboratory course in the Bachelor's degree programme in Physics. During the event, fourth-semester students presented the experimental results of one of the experiments they had carried out as part of Laboratory Course III on scientific posters and discussed their work with members of the Faculty of Physics.

Laboratory Course III focuses on the structure of matter. In addition to introductory experiments in atomic, nuclear, and solid-state physics, it includes classic experiments such as the Millikan experiment, holography, and the investigation of Brownian motion.

Thanks to the generous financial support of the Society of Friends and Supporters of TU Dresden, a poster award with a total value of €100, in the form of two Thalia gift vouchers, could once again be presented, as in 2025. This year's poster prize jury, consisting of Aparajita Singha, Hans Kleemann, and Frank Siegert, selected Nina Schwarz and Franziska Rauscher for their outstanding poster and presentation on the experiment "Atomic Spectra".

The award ceremony also marked the beginning of the traditional summer barbecue organised by the student councils of Physics and Psychology, which took place on the Trefftz lawn immediately after the poster session
