Golden Diploma for Physics Seminar Group 1968/1
On the occasion of their 50th diploma anniversary, members of the 1968/1 seminar group met on the campus of their alma mater on October 13, 2022. Organized by Manfred Kammer, the group was welcomed by Prof. Carsten Timm, Dean of the Faculty of Physics, with a lecture about physics at TU Dresden - from studies to research areas to clusters of excellence. Afterwards, each member of the seminar group was awarded a golden diploma certificate.
The class of 1968 completed their physics studies in four years. Manfred Kammer recalls: "Our seminar group only lasted two of the four years of study. Then we were divided into the different areas of the physics section - theoretical physics, experimental physics 1 and 2, nuclear physics, and so on. Only lectures we still had together. After the 3rd year of study we had an internship of several weeks in companies or directly at the university. From the 4th year on, we worked on our diploma thesis in addition to lectures and seminars."
