Physics Colloquium / Prof. Herbert Dreiner: “Fascinating Particle Physics” a Popular Book Project

Abstract: I present the genesis of a popular book on particle physics I have written with the Springer Verlag with 6 co-authors and entitled: Faszinierende Teilchenphysik, written in German. An English version is currently in preparation. I entered work on outreach 23 years ago with the Physikshow Bonn. There we also developed a show on particle physics. I show how this experience in explaining (particle) physics to a wider audience inspired the book. I shall bring along several demonstration experiments to illustrate this effect.
