Unique x-ray diffraction systems and more: The growing laboratory infrastructure at the IFMP
Abstract
Over the past five years, the laboratory infrastructure at the Institute of Solid State and Materials Physics has developed rapidly. The commissioning of our flagship, the multi-purpose x-ray diffractometer SIRUS, is only the latest milestone. In addition to three unique x-ray diffraction systems that enable x-ray diffraction measurements on single crystals, powders and surfaces, we have also set up a comprehensive range of complex sample environments such as low and high temperatures, hydrostatic pressure and uniaxial strain.
I will briefly introduce the available methods and sample environments and present some preliminary results as well as a roadmap for future developments. We will then take a tour around the labs and see the machines at work, with plenty of time for questions and discussion.
