Who we are and how we work
Our international group from four countries and three continents is striving for discovery, investigation and tuning of new phenomena in quantum materials.
A diverse team with one big goal
Our group is interested in materials that exhibit new, not yet understood behaviour at low temperature. Experiments give crucial information on these novel states of matter that cannot be described by established quantum mechanical theory.
We are currently a group of three postdocs and two PhD students from four countries and three continents. Typically, every group member works on their own cutting edge research project, where younger students are guided by experienced group members. In weekly group meetings we share ideas, our scientific progress, and plan events relevant to the group.
Our experimental work consists of delicate preparation of millimeter-size high-purity crystals for experiments. Samples are then mounted into cryostats, i.e. special refrigerators, which can attain low temperatures down to 10 millikelvin using liquid nitrogen and helium. We develop our own state-of-the-art high-precision measurement techniques. Some of the experiments are carried out in high-field labs, for example in Grenoble (France) or in Dresden-Rossendorf. Our discoveries are usually published in renown international journals.
We have fruitful collaborations with many groups all over the world.
