We are looking for PhD students!
Join us!
We are looking for two new PhD students to join our team!
Your role:
You will work with our state-of-the-art experimental facilities and investigate quantum materials using a combination of x-ray diffraction, x-ray spectroscopy, and Raman scattering. DFT calculations can complement the experimental work. The goal is to uncover and control new collective states of matter, clarify the interaction between lattice and electrons, and test theoretical models. In addition to conducting experiments in our laboratory, you will have the opportunity to work at world-class research facilities such as free-electron lasers and synchrotron radiation centers.
You will be part of the Chair of Physics of Quantum Materials at the Institute for Solid State and Materials Physics and work within the Cluster of Excellence “Complexity, Topology and Dynamics in Quantum Matter” (ctd.qmat). Together, this provides a very strong research environment for your PhD-project. Active collaboration with associated research groups is encouraged, and you will also co-supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis projects related to your work.
Your profile:
- A strong Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Physics
- A very good understanding of condensed matter physics
- Passion for research
- Team player with organizational skills
- Proficient in English
