DPG Spring Meeting of the Condensed Matter Section
From March 8 to 13, 2026, the DPG Spring Meeting of the Condensed Matter Section (SKM 2026) will take place on the campus of TU Dresden.
With over 5300 participants and more than 4700 scientific contributions, it is the largest physics conference in Europe. TU Dresden is proud to host this international conference - in line with its mission statement as "TUD | The Collaborative University", which stands for close interdisciplinary and international cooperation. We are therefore particularly pleased to welcome France as this year's guest country.
Alongside a broad spectrum of current physics research, the conference addresses key questions for the future—from sustainable energy and materials research to AI-driven materials development and tipping points in climate and society. SKM 2026 also offers students and doctoral candidates the opportunity to present their research to an international audience of experts. In addition, public events such as the popular "Einstein Slam" (March 9), a keynote lecture on quantum computing (March 10) and an evening lecture on gravitational wave astronomy (March 11) will encourage dialog between science and society.
The local conference chair, Prof. Jochen Geck from the Institute of Solid State and Materials Physics (IFMP), would like to thank everyone involved in organizing and running the conference. We wish all participants a pleasant, productive and interesting SKM 2026!
