Progress at the Raman Center
After successful installation, alignment, and commissioning of the extensive spectrometer hardware, Rudi, Garima, and Thomas (left to right im the above picture) have now turned their attention to the sample environments. The first system to be tested is a helium-flow cryostat, which is the shiny thing in the back with the icy hoses. It enables measurements under vacuum from room temperature down to 3 Kelvin. Later this will be combined with hydrostatic pressure and magnetic fields.
In the picture above you can see a group of happy researchers witnessing the first cool-down –an important step for our new facility and towards actual experiments!
