Many-body theory of condensed matter
Many fascinating phenomena of modern physics are closely linked to the collective behavior of many particles. This lecture course offers an introduction to the theory of such many-body quantum systems. Methods of quantum field theory will be applied to problems of condensed matter.
Selection of topics:
Second quantization, Green's function, formalism of path-integrals,
perturbation theory and Feynman diagrams;
Applications: Bose-gas, itinerant magnetism, impurity scattering, superconductivity, etc.
Location and Time:
Wednesday, 2.50 - 4.20 pm, BZW/A251,
Thursday, 9.20 - 10.50 am, BZW/A120,
The course starts on Oct. 12th, 2016.
Exercises will be discussed every second week on Thursdays.
