In this project, the electronic phase diagrams of localized and itinerant electron systems with magnetic frustration shall be examined by means of the local-probe techniques muon spin relaxation (μSR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and Mössbauer spectroscopy. First, we aim to identify new systems and parameter ranges with spin-liquid phases or other interesting unconventional ground states, such as unconventional spin order or valence bond order. Second, the low-energy magnetic excitations, which in case of strong frustration may even be fractionalized, and their bound states shall be explored. Third, we want to investigate the influence of defects in unconventional magnetic phases.
