In this project, inelastic neutron scattering on single crystals and powder samples will be used to study spin-dynamical properties of both itinerant and insulating materials with geometric or orbital frustration. The experiments will cover a broad range of temperatures and magnetic fields. The aim of the project is to understand exotic low-temperature phases, such as quantum spin liquids, spin-nematic order, or skyrmion lattices, in several representative frustrated materials via their magnetic fluctuation spectrum. Our experimental methods will include triple-axis and time-of-flight neutron spectroscopy with unpolarized and polarized neutrons, including measurements in magnetic field, as well as neutron spin-echo spectroscopy.
