This project focuses on compounds with specific geometries, magnetic moments and anisotropies that are likely to closely approximate the model Hamiltonians proposed theoretically for frustrated, topological and spin-liquid ground states. These compounds are predominantly insulating, light-transition-metal oxides, where the frustration is driven by the geometry and competing interactions rather than anisotropy. Each work package concentrates on a particular type of lattice: triangular, honeycomb, hyperkagome, pyrochlore and diamond. The goal is to discover new frustrated materials, characterize their properties, and produce high-quality single crystals for further investigation.
