Integrated Research Training Group (MGK)
The Integrated Research Training Group is devoted to the education of the PhD students within the Collaborative Research Center.
Integrated Research Training Group of CRC 1143
The integrated research training group provides a structured framework for the education and training of the doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers in the CRC. The MGK strives to impart in-depth understanding of the scientific basis and proficiency in the experimental and theoretical methods of the field. Doctoral students receive double supervision by a thesis adviser from one of the CRC projects and an independent mentor. The MGK also aims at conveying key competences, e.g., communication and leadership skills, that will serve young researchers in their further careers. It comprises a broad range of activities including advanced lectures, general-competence courses, a seminar, summer schools, hands-on tutorials, young-researcher workshops, and PhD symposia. It offers qualifying fellowships for exceptional students with Bachelor degrees in order to support them during the qualification phase of the fast-track towards the doctoral degree.
Doctoral researchers and postdocs in the CRC can enroll in language courses, with the cost covered by the MGK. This includes courses for German as a foreign language.
The MGK offers special support for young researchers with children. This includes for example help with establishing a home office for teleworking and the organization of child care at summer schools, CRC retreats, etc. Please talk to us if you require such support.
