Commission for Quality Management in Teaching and Learning
Approach
The Faculty of Psychology applies an internal quality management system with the aim of ensuring the quality of teaching and studies at a consistently high level. Since 2008, the Commission for Quality Management in Teaching and Learning (KQM) has been working on this topic in close cooperation with the Study Commission of the Faculty of Psychology.
Documents
The KQM has developed a set of guidelines to support students in writing their thesis. These can be downloaded in the Document Center.
Teaching Award
The Faculty of Psychology awards the "Karl and Charlotte Bühler Award for Excellent Teaching" to teachers who have achieved outstanding results in their teaching evaluations. The teaching award is conferred once per academic year. The KQM or the FSR of Psychology is responsible for the analysis of the teaching evaluations.
Selection criteria until SS 2022: The mean value of the teacher-related questions in the evaluations is determined (lectures: Questions 1-7, 21, 23; seminars: Questions 1-5, 7, 9, 22, 24; cf. evaluation form as of summer semester 2021). Mean values equal to or better than 1.3 for lectures and 1.2 for seminars (incl. Expra) and tutorials are considered worthy of an award. Since feedback on the results of the central evaluation is only given if more than 10 evaluation forms per course are completed, courses with lower evaluation numbers cannot be considered for the teaching award.
Selection criteria from WS 2022/23: In the teaching evaluations, students state in an additional question whether and to what extent a seminar or lecture deserves a teaching award. Afterwards, a ranking list is created from all evaluations of the Faculty. The top % of the teachers will receive a teaching award (separately for seminars and lectures).
