Overview:
SPSS is a widely used, convenient and comprehensive program package for statistical data analysis among scientists and students of many disciplines. The seminar offers an introduction to the program. The contents of the seminar will be worked out by the participants independently on the PC under supervision. The course is aimed at doctoral students and postdocs who have no previous experience of using SPSS.
Focus of content:
- Introduction to the SPSS user interface
- Data entry and storage
- Importing data from other formats (Excel)
- Data transformations
- Linking SPSS data files
- Calculation of statistical parameters
- Examples of simple statistical tests (e.g. t-test)
- Creation of graphics (e.g. histograms, scatter plots)
- Introduction to working with SPSS syntax
