In the area of computational cognitive modelling we develop formalized process models from the neural to the social level:
- Differential equation models
- Drift diffusion models
- Neural networks
- Dynamic neural fields
- Agent-based models
Computational models allow us to test theories of psychological processes and psychological disorders for their logical consistency (is this even possible?) and their predictive power (does this have anything to do with reality?). By simulating experiments, we derive predictions that can then be tested empirically (e.g. by means of behavioral or imaging studies). With our models, we strive to depict cognition and behavior as they occur in the real world: continuously and contextually embedded. Thus, the models offer both basic scientific insights and new impulses for understanding mental disorders (keyword computational psychiatry).
We offer modeling work in various psychological fields of application:
- Cognitive control and voluntary action control
- decision making
- Social interaction
Programming skills (preferably in Matlab) are an advantage for modeling, but you can also acquire the knowledge necessary for modeling during your work.
We look forward to hearing from you!
