"Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy" refers to the sub-discipline of psychology that deals with mental disorders and the psychological aspects of somatic diseases in teaching, basic and clinical research and the practical implementation of the findings. Essential areas of the subject are: Etiology and pathogenesis, classification, diagnostics, epidemiology, intervention (prevention, psychotherapy, rehabilitation, health care, evaluation).
The Institute for Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy at the TU Dresden covers the entire spectrum of clinical psychology and psychotherapy from the basics to application. Under the umbrella of the institute there are five chairs, further professors active in research and/or teaching as well as several affiliated institutions for the purpose of fulfilling the goals and tasks of the institute.
The central tasks of the Institute for Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy are:
