Apl. Prof. Dr. Susanne Knappe studied psychology at the FSU Jena (diploma) and received her doctorate in 2010 at the TU Dresden on "Family risk factors for the onset and progression of social fears and phobias in childhood and adolescence".
She also habilitated in 2016 at the TU Dresden on "Approaches to Validate the Diagnosis and Classification of Anxiety Disorders" and is a licensed Psychological Psychotherapist with additional qualification in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy.
Research priorities are:
- diagnostics and epidemiology of mental disorders - especially anxiety disorders,
- health services research,
- prevention and
- cognitive-behavioral therapy.
As head of the Outpatient Center for Children and Adolescents at the IAP-TU Dresden GmbH and co-director of the Center for Early Recognition and Preventive Intervention Studies (CEPRIS), she is primarily responsible at the Institute for Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy for the clinical-psychological diagnosis, allocation and care of children and adolescents with mental abnormalities and disorders.
