Katharina completed her B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD in Psychology at the University of Münster, with funded research stays in New Zealand and Ireland. In 2019, she joined TU Dresden as a postdoctoral researcher. Since June 2023, she has been leading her own research group - the Interpersonal Dynamics in Early Affective Disorders Laboratory (IDEA-Lab) investigating the trajectories of affective disorders. Since April she has joined the faculty of psychology at the university of hamburg as a junior professor of child and adolescent psychotherapy.
In her research, she investigates socio-emotional and socio-cognitive mechanisms in the life course of affective disorders as well as compassion-based interventions. Using neuroscientific findings and machine learning approaches, she develops new hypotheses for symptom-specific therapies and training.
