Katharina completed her B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD in Psychology at the University of Münster, with funded research stays in New Zealand and Ireland. In 2019, she joined TUD Dresden University of Technology as a postdoctoral researcher. Since June 2023, she has been leading her own research group - the Interpersonal Dynamics in Early Affective Disorders Laboratory (IDEA-Lab) investigating the trajectories of affective disorders. Since April she has joined the faculty of psychology at the university of hamburg as a junior professor of child and adolescent psychotherapy.
In her research, she investigates socio-emotional and socio-cognitive mechanisms in the life course of affective disorders as well as compassion-based interventions. Using neuroscientific findings and machine learning approaches, she develops new hypotheses for symptom-specific therapies and training.
