Application
On the question of whether the CAN Master opens the way to licensure as a psychological psychotherapist under the old model: From the 2023 admission cohort, the CAN Master will no longer offer the possibility of licensure under the old model of psychotherapy training (PsychThG - old version). The clinical elective modules CAN-WP3, CAN-WP4 and CAN-WP5 can unfortunately no longer be offered for capacity reasons. |
ACCESS REQUIREMENTS
The prerequisite for admission to the course of study is a first university degree, recognised in the Federal Republic of Germany as qualifying for a profession, of at least six semesters of study in psychology or a comparable course of study at a scientific university within which special specialist knowledge was acquired.
Specifically, special aptitude for the CAN Master's programme is demonstrated if proof of good knowledge has been furnished in the following core thematic areas:
- Psychological Methodology
- Statistics
- General Psychology
- Biopsychology
- Psychological Assessment
- Developmental Psychology
- Personality Psychology
- Social Psychology
In the case of 5 to 8, knowledge should be demonstrated in at least two of the four core areas. Good knowledge in a thematic core area is proven if academic achievements in this thematic area amounting to at least 6 ECTS credit points (equalling 180 work hours) per subject have been successfully achieved.
Successfully completed modules, successfully completed lectures and seminars or theses are recognised as academic achievements. In addition, knowledge of English at level B2 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages is required, in Germany usually demonstrated by the Abitur.
Applicants are placed in a ranking list, which is the sum of the credit points earned in the thematic core areas (1-8), relative to the grade.
