DG HochN Annual Hub 2025 in Dresden
From June 16-17, 2025, the annual hub of the German Society for Sustainability at Higher Education Institutions will take place at the University of Applied Sciences Dresden (HTWD) and TU Dresden. The hub connects employees in the field of sustainability at member universities and other interested parties and offers input and the opportunity to exchange ideas. In sessions on sustainability at five universities in Saxony and Thuringia as well as guided tours of sustainability projects at HTWD and TU Dresden, participants learn more about the commitment of local higher education institutions. Thematic hubs enable exchange, information and joint work on sustainability topics at universities. The annual hub also includes the DG HochN general meeting.
As a member of DG HochN, TU Dresden's Environment Commission (KU) is represented with various offerings, which are primarily organized by members of the KU working groups. On 16 June, Prof. Stefan Gumhold, Chairman of the Environment Commission, will present the development of TU Dresden's sustainability strategy with a special focus on the areas of activity of digitalization. The guided tours of the BildungsAcker - LehrLernort für praxisnahe BNE, the participatory design of the TU Dresden campus and the TU Dresden's energy-efficient high-performance computing system will provide insights into the development of the TUD on its way to becoming a sustainable university in various areas. In the joint hub of DG HochN, HTWD and TUD, the challenging topic for many universities "How can ESD succeed in the university? - Ways to implement, strengthen and collaborate". In addition to the questions of how this can succeed despite many hurdles and which methods can be used, possibilities for cooperation and networking will be developed.

The German Society for Sustainability at Universities (DG HochN) was founded in 2020 as a non-profit association as a successor to a successful BMBF program. Its purpose is to support the implementation of the UNESCO program "Education for Sustainable Development for 2030" in German universities with the aim of making sustainability and education for sustainable development visible in universities and anchoring them in their work. Currently, 74 universities and university sub-institutions are members of DG HochN.
